Make it Simple

Craft one simple message ā˜ and repeat it over and over again. I know it sounds counterintuitive. After all, we want to be unique and share new things. But two main elements will make your message stick in someone's mind, preferably your target audience ...

šŸ“Œ Your message HAS to be simple & obvious, like 2+2 = 4. Overcomplicate it and people won't remember it.

šŸ“Œ Repeat it each time you have the occasion. This can be in part of your website copy, add it to your content, create a hashtag, always include it in your social media posts.

You'll know you've succeeded only when you're identified by this message. If you do it correctly, each time someone sees your face or name, they'll automatically remember your message.

Works especially well for communicating the essence of your brand.

This is something I've learned by reading the book "The Iconist: The Art and Science of Standing Out" by Jamie Mustard. šŸ“š

We're wired to gravitate toward simple objects and situations. Why?

šŸ‘‰ As the author notes, "When we are children, it's normal for us to learn in straightforward, structured, Sesame-Street like ways. Whether it's a TV show or picture book, we learn by looking at big, bold, often repetitive images that present numbers or problems in a strong, visually simplified way."

And that's a tendency we manifest as adults too.

According to Mustard, "In a world of overcomplicated communication, large objects can have an even more profound impact on adults trying to learn or take anything in."

Let's recap ... If you want your brand message to stick, make it simple and repeat it over and over again. šŸ’Ŗ
